I wish the manufacturers would stop thinking for us.Granted, they have to do what is good for the company, but VW has proven that not even they get it right.Ford got it completely wrong with the Mondeo.

Found this on a VW sight, you lucky bas.....

"European car makers aren't big on pick ups. But now VW's got a challenger to Hilux and Hardbody. The four-door double cab makes its debut at Hanover's IAA Commercial Vehicles Show this week and is reportedly due in South Africa early next year.

Rumored to be called Robust or Taro, the "one ton" production version will be available with diesel or direct injection petrol engines, the flared bumpers above the wheels hints at the presence of 4MOTION all-wheel-drive capability. Although the concept's interior is basic, it's unclear what the production version will look like. But one thing is clear — the arrival of the new VW pick up in SA next year is sure to upset the Japanese-dominated status quo."

A few years ago you could buy a VW 1-ton pick-up in Europe, called the Taro. It was a rebadged Hilux!
