Animal Transportation

Post by Merlin »

's up all?

There's a good chance I'm going to be rehomeing a dog, next week.

The dog is in CT, and I am in Jo'burg...

I've just had a company email me through a quote and I nearly fell off of my chair at their fee.

Anyone have any connections to pet transport services, or bright ideas on how best to move a large dog up to JHB?

Thanks, N.

Is the dog for sale?

I'm looking for a project dog. Preferably one that has IRS.

Once again, the best way is to go directly to the airfreight company. They have all the facilities to transport animals, and it'll cost you half the price.

I flew my one Yorkie down from Jhb to PE in January and it cost me R250 excluding the courrier(box).

Phone SAA cargo section.
Damn,I'm good!

Thanks, Chris.

I've just browsed the SAA Cargo 'site, and gotten their rates.

I'll only know Monday, so I can't make any further enquries until then.

A Yorkie is substantially smaller. ;)

Thanks, N.

Seems to be biased towards weight, with SAA Cargo, although dimensions do play a part.

Basic fee plus Express rate per Kg, and conforming to airplane door sizing and regulations.

I did some rough calculations, and I think I could get away with a third of what the transport company quoted me, atleast. :o

Hoping to hear from the dog owner on Monday morning.

Giant Schnauzer; 10 months.

With a little luck, she'll soon be joining my existing troupe of four-legged friends. :)
