Ford Capri comeback!!!!!
Ford Capri comeback!
06/05/2008 14:48
One of the best-loved Fords is to rise out of the ashes. The Capri is to make a comeback to take on the VW Scirocco. The original is one of the most famous Fords yet but production stopped in the 1980s.
According to Auto Express the all-new Capri will take its styling cues from the 2003 Visos concept mixed with the carmaker's current design trends as seen on the new Kuga and Mondeo models.
The new Capri's profile will be similar to that if the original model, with a tail-heavy stance and familiar C-shaped rear windows and thick pillars. At the back, strong shoulder lines combine with distinctive tail-lights and a sloping tailgate to create a pert-looking rear.
A neat roof spoiler and venturi-style lower bumper finish the design off.
The Capri will be a 2+2 seater and will probably share its underpinnings with the Focus. That will mean a front-wheel-drive layout and a similar engine line-up, with the range topped by the ST's 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbocharged unit.
Auto Express speculates that an RS version, powered by a 3.2-litre six-cylinder engine and offering four-wheel drive, could also make its appearance.
A concept version of the new coupé will make its appearance in 2009 with a production version showing its face in 2010.
Does this mean that we going to have Capri Peranas again

Re: Ford Capri comeback!!!!!
I like the look of the UK Capris, with the diffrent headlight configuration more. When I was very small, I got this Corgi model set from an early 80s TV series 'The Professionals'. (Dunno if it ever showed in SA, or perhaps late in the evenings when I had to be in bed already. Nonetheless, I never saw an actual episode myself.) They used Capris as their pursuit vehicles, and the Corgi model was a very accurate replica of it. It included figurines of the main characters. Whenever I saw a Capri, I always was disappointed to find that it had the 'ugly' square lights.

Re: Ford Capri comeback!!!!!
Sadly, a lot of our Peranas got shipped out to Australia, so much was the demand that guys were actually making counterfeit Peranas and sending them over

Re: Ford Capri comeback!!!!!
I don't know.
The Camaro Concept, the Dodge Challenger and Ford GT at least resembled the old cars. This doesn't even come close.
The vents on that thing looks like it came of a BMW,and the Skirt line looks like a 1 Series BMW as well.
