Hi
I want to fit a padded dash into my Beetle (it has the holes for it). I have the original metal dash glovebox cover, but somewhere in the back of my mind I recall that the glovebox covers are different sizes for the metal and padded dashes?
Could someone please jog my memory and advise whether this is so, before I go posting looking for a glovebox cover and hinges
Thanks
Evan

Re: Glovebox cover size for padded dash
Not sure about glovebox lid size, but i remember once seeing slightly smaller dash grilles (the ones living left and right of the beetle speedo.) At the time i thought those were for padded dash application.
Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.

Re: Glovebox cover size for padded dash
OK...so I got a call from a fellow enthusiast who saw my post. Apparently the standard glove box cover is slightly taller and wider than the one that fits into the padded dash. The hinges are the same, but not the actual cover itself. He says that - apparently - if you try use the standard cover it catches on the sides and won't open all the way down. So there you have it...
Given enough time and money, anything is possible...
