For me, this radiator and placement plus grill is the most extreme I'd go. It doesn't impact too badly on the front end look of the lowlight, and although it involves cutting a hole in the nose, if you wanted to reverse the conversion then it's not too big a job to close up the hole. This particular camper is actually my most popular rental - nobody ever complains about the radiator grill...Placement of radiator UNDER kombi...

Re: Placement of radiator UNDER kombi...
VdubTECH have done More than 10 Golf Conversions in Baywindow Busses with the Radiator Underneath hidden
One of our Clients drive her bus Every day and uses it to Deliver cleaning Cemicals and have been through the Kruger National Park 2014 When it was so Hot with out Any Overheating Problems
When we do the Conversion we do not cut eny of the Engine bay away so you can go back to Aircooled if needs be but the bus drives and is so reliable with the Golf motor and Powerfull you will enjoy it like that
Busy with a Contract Building 12 Baywindow Kombis with Golf Motors in

Re: Placement of radiator UNDER kombi...
Hi Bugger - What is the average cost of the entire conversion? Also, if a water-cooled motor is already fitted with a nose-mounted radiator, what is the cost to install a radiator underneath and remove the existing one? I think these are two options people will go for more and more...

Re: Placement of radiator UNDER kombi...
Derek We fit a 2L import motor that we fit new sump Gasket.tappet cover gasket.Rear Flywheel oil seal .new Cam Belt and Tentioner Roller
new Sparkplug leads+Dizzy+cap+spark Plugs+fanbelt+new Clutch and a few other new parts
then fit the Radiator and Use Spitronics EFI injection all supplied and Fitted On Exchange for R45K which is a Fery Good Price if you ad all the New Parts that we fit Extra to make it a REliable package from the Start
These Motors make average 85Kw on the Wheels and is very smooth and nice to Drive
All depending on how the Radiator is fitted in the FRont I need to work out cost to close and Fit Radiator Underneath
I will Try upload pics of some of the Conversions we have done
If you go look up VdubTECH on Face Book I have started a Photo Album with the name Golf Conversioned Bay window Busses there you will
see the Ones we have done
Just done a DElux Lowlight and it is a real Pleasure to Drive the Bus

Re: Placement of radiator UNDER kombi...
I like the radiator set up in the engine bay in this youtube video http://youtu.be/M2jDwD0QBn0 Someone out there who tried this setup?
Re: Placement of radiator UNDER kombi...
Good day guys.
Did anybody find a solution for this post?
I have a 72 bay with a 2E 2l 8v motor and a conversion from Gilo Engineering. At first I had the golf radiator at the back on the right, but I could not travel long distances. It goes like stink and sounds awesome make no mistake, but I could never really get the Temperature down!!
Now I decided to opt for a Datzun 280 ZX 3 core copper radiator under the belly right in front of the engine compartment (section) with a proper 16" fan.
I installed galvanised and rubber hoses and kept the water bottle up top. I made a wind scoop and covered the radiator up with strong diamond mesh.
The job looks pretty decent if I have to say so myself, but the car overheats!! This time very quick!! I tried everything.
Fan on the bottom (at first) sucking or blowing and now it is on top sucking. I made sure that there are no air pockets in the system (bled several times). My bus overheats while idling or on various speeds driving.
Please help

Hi Bugger
I have this 1970 low light with a toyota 3y motor. Runs amazing without any heating issues. But the radiator in front is ugly. What is the cost to move it below?

HI Guys in Cape town
Henry from Berg motors have been Servicing 2 of our Conversion Busses in Capetown you guys Can Speak to him for help
and if need be he can give me a call for advice
Edmund
On the Toyotas I will use a Twin Type belly Mount Radiator System to cool down the Motor
Estimate cost around R7K to supply and fit the Radiators and Piping to them under the Belly
Including our hard earnd scool fees keeping them cool
fbandlow If you still got overheating issues Give me a call or bring the bus around to Vdubtech and we could sort it out for you and make your headachs
go away

Hi Pierre
Thanks for your reply, only saw your reply now.
I dont have any heating issues with the current setup.
Only reason i want to hide the radiator is because it looks ugly mountedon the front.
