My '75 Jurgens Autovilla

Post by Derek »

My latest acquisition is a '74 Jurgens Autovilla with a 1800 Air-cooled engine and Auto box. I had it brought down from Durban by Peter Benn and bought it based on the attached pics. I am not disappointed yet :) We'll do some minor paintwork and touch-ups to the interior, sort out the rims and add hubcaps, and lay a new floor inside as well as fit new door panels and kick plates and a decent sound system.... Then she should be ready to roll :)

Thanks - it needs a bit of work on the interior, but it runs :) Will have to do tie-rods and draglink as per usual...I'll post pics once she's done :)

PS: Fig, yes, production was '74, but registration was 01/75 I see on the papers. It still has the original handbooks, and lots of receipts, etc. From the look of it the 1800 motor was replaced twice in its lifetime, and the gearbox once.

01/75 is a default setting and can't be trusted. Configuation of the bus is for a 75. 74s had a different interior and window/door layout. It may indeed have been built in 74, but it is still a 75 model. 3rd digit of VIN should be 5, signifying 75 model year, which in SA started in 11/74 (8/74 in Germany).

Hehe Fig, you are an absolute encylopedia of VW facts and figures and a great asset to this site :) It is you who inspired me to start buying Autovilla's again BTW.
