If I'm right the canvas can be removed for summer, how do you get the canvas to stay in place on the boot lid when "little red riding hood" is on?
You are correct, in fact the canvas is/will only be used when weather is bad on our long trips. We also put it on when we park it overnight.

It's held on the underside of the trunk lid with 2" Velcro.

Velcro :!: that make sens

Another successful drive, 53 miles in 36°F topless.

We had to pickup some supplies and decided we would brave the cold and take the SS out on a sunny afternoon. We did an alignment before we left but the steering wheel is not quite straight. A little tweaking required.

We also had a chance to weigh it at a provincial truck scale. This was fully loaded (tools and parts), with both of us in the car, tank full and reserve full.

Car ran fine, it's probably time to adjust the carburetors, by the look of the exit of the sidewinder, it's def running rich.

We also noticed that the valve covers were leaking a little when we returned, we tightened the bolt and we'll recheck.

Here are a few pictures:

This show incorporates all Imports (Non-American) cars as well as all kit cars. They award 10 "judge's favorite" awards all class/makes.

We did not get picked. Not that we were looking to earn one...

Vincent and France have been travelling the past week from Montreal in Canada to California with the new Kick-Out SS where they met up with Bruce and Winnie Meyers the past weekend at a Manx Buggy event. Bruce has signed France's Manx, and added a very special personal message - well done, guys! :hangloose:

The Berrien having successfully visited all 49 continental States in 3 coast to coast crossing and over 65,000 miles on the odometer, it's now up to France's real dune buggy, her Kick-Out S.S. to try to visit its birth place.

This trip duration has been shortened to 17 days (from the 21 from our last crossing).

We plan on leaving on Saturday, July 6th and return on Monday, July 22nd.

We’re done, we completed our Dune Buggy trip without any issues… I’m somewhat impressed. We left Kingston around 6:30am this morning (yes we slept in…) The sun was present but it was a little chilly. We stopped for breakfast on the way about 1h from Montreal. We had some congestion on the Metropolitan, but this is normal, it’s always congested. We are proud to have successfully completed our trip. We travel alone and must carry all our gear (clothing, shoes, jackets, tools, etc.). We are back on the road in October and we're already excited.

States visited: 19
(Arizona, California, Colorado, South Dakota, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Utah, Wisconsin, Wyoming)
Number of different beers: 21
Name of beers:
(Great Lake Elliot Ness, Bleu Moon Agave Nectar Ale Seasonal Collection, Fat Tire, New Belgium Seasonal, Samuel Adams Lager, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Dogfish Head 90 Minutes Imperial IPA, Island Blonde, Orang Wheat, Big Wales, Miller, Heineken, Coors Light, Peroni, Johnny's American IPA, Dead Horse Amber, Flagship IPA, Life's Lemons Pale Ale, Latitude 42 I.P.Eh, Saugatuck Fortunate Events, Dragoon's Breath Pale Ale, Labatt Bleu)
Min Temperature Min: 12C (55F) ** Mont Evans, Colorado
Max Temperature: 51C (124F) ** Between Arizona and Moab (Utah)
Oil consumed: 1 liter (1qt)
Oil change: 2 (5 liters) (5qt)
Number of hotels: 14
There are only 3 questions we did not get asked:
How many elephants fit in the front seat?
Does it fly?
Have you driven it on another planet?
All other questions have been asked and answered, we confirm it!

Number of times the buggy was photographed by others?: No idea but had we charged $2.00 per picture, we would be rich!
Gas consumed: 1,177 liters (311 us gals)
Gas cost: $1,302.60
Fuel consumption: 9.8 l/100 (24 mpg)

Max speed: 134km/h (83 miles)
Average driving speed: 89km/h (55mph)
Distance total : 7,296 miles (11,742 KM)
# pictures taken : 5,096

Our most precious memory: Bruce signing the buggy.

What we liked : Seeing our friends; Hot air baloon; Micheal Jackson One show; Moab; Colorado; Lake Tahoe.
What least liked: I-80 through Nebraska
Thank you for having followed us during this awesome adventure… We should be back with our October trip to MOTB (Manx on the Banx)
