There seams to be a two stage attack on this paint job.......
1st stage is to find a rattle can that near matched the paint work, then light flat the peeling, bubbling, rusty spots and spray with can.
This will give you time to drive the car till stage 2.
2nd stage is when you have time,( read money, time, inclination, holiday....) plan a nice long space of your life, and heat gun and scraper all the paint off, and start again.
Sad, but there in no quick fix here, its all got to go, to be put back on again the right way

Re: My Bug - New peekchas
@Herman, i know it'll be a b1tch to fix and theres no quick way round it. was thinking instead of fixing the bad bits with paint i would try sanding them back, then rust converter, the primer, then try blend the primer bits in like faux patina.
@vader, it wasnt even a very abrasive polish. i tried a spot on my old mans kombi and my moms golf and the colour didnt come off either. i understand polish works by removing some clear coat to get it levels with the lowest part of the swirl marks etc, but there should be decent thickness of cleear before removing the actual paint right?

Re: My Bug - New peekchas
dont leave the primer exposed. As far as I know it absorbs water and sends it directly to the metal to start the oxidation process... Paint protects primer

Re: My Bug - New peekchas
Million dollar question, condenser failed (again) and bolt on the distributor clamp stripped. Old man tried drilling the bolt out and took some meat out of the clamp with it. She's running again but I don't know if I trust it to make it to Angela's and back
