Hey guys. Need some help... How can I rewire a 12v alternator setup to work with a 12v generator?

Thanx tony. Most of the info I get on the AD number tells me its a 1600. But the guy who I bought it from said it was a 1200/1300. So really confused
This is what I got from the samba :
"Type 2 engine
AD 1971-73 1600cc 50bhp DIN. Non-USA."
So it should technically be a 1600 bus engine?

Nope other way around. Seeing as the beetle is wired for a alternator and I've now put a engine in that has a 12v generator

a stock weight engine is easy to get in and out.
1x trolley jack and 4 bricks is all you need.
Drag engine under car into engine bay.
Lift one side by holding onto cylinder head cover
put brick under exhaust.
lift other side, put brick under.
repeat until engine is 2 bricks off ground.
put jack under engine, lift and install.
Now the question... did you put that flywheel back onto that crank?
Flywheel is fkd
crank is fkd - look at the ridges around the dowels (I am not even mentioning the state of the dowel holes).
did you set endfloat properly?
The flywheel probably wasnt torqued down properly in the first place.

New flywheel old crank...
Would it be at all possible to redrill the crank?
Otherwise I'm fooked
Endfloat still seems fine

Sorry to say, thats a full engine rebuild, that crank will have to be welded and re-drilled at best
And it will have to come out to do that.
Else you f%$k-up the rest of the engine.
