My 1964 Notch RAT
Has undergone a facelift over the past few months, slowly taking shape. Now driving, and nicely at that.
BTW my definition of RAT, Rands are Tight (to restore properly)
Plenty elbow grease the bonnet has many hours, was planning to do the whole car that way..... but, way too much work, so the rest got a little less attention to detail.
Anyone got more stickers to finish my sticker bomb?
Inrerior is next will be done by KKK, watch this space.

Thanks, the boot rack is off a MG, the roof rack I have no idea, had to make some changes to make it fit.

PLENTY ELBOW GREASE A few rattle cans, sun & rain, and a very humid cellar. The roof rack also got the cellar treatment and was rusty in just a couple of weeks.YvaneS wrote:How do you get the bonnet to look like that?
Was planning to do the whole car the same way, but it took me many hours just to do the bonnet and a sore back that put me out of action for a couple of weeks, that I decided to not do the whole car the same way.

Re: My 1964 Notch RAT
Rui,
Great looking ratter!!!! Type 3'S are very antipodean to other VW's and they are like marmite, you either love them or hate them. I just happen to love them and I think your okie is very, very nice.
I have a really nice looking resto cal 64S that had the one owner and will come and show you at the next VW aircooled heritage show if you are not too busy at your stall.
Remember the ride height should be slightly lower, they still drive nice that way.If it rubbin you aint vee dubbing!!!!
Regards,

Re: My 1964 Notch RAT
Something rather funny happened at the Nasrec show today. As you can see from the KKK pics I have the rack loaded with all sorts of old fishing equipment, I had the same setup today with the bucket hanging out the back. I couldn't help but have a good laugh when I packed up, on taking down the bucket I noticed a shit load of coins in the bottom, damn the people must think I need all the help I can get to restore my Notch. My daughter counted the money when I got home an came to almost R30. Thanks for the gesture whoever the samaritains LOL
