Re: Camo BAJA in the Making
Maybe cut the bearing out with an small grinder.VW0007 wrote:......

If you cut it ant an angle, on both sides, you can hit it with two big hamer, with one sharp blow, on ether half of the bearing, and it will jump off.
You may find that if you clean it up with sand paper, it will be as good as new.(save a few bucks for the disks

Re: Camo BAJA in the Making
Ok
After using a high pressure ckeaner ..to clean up all the brake fluid and grease
I began tapping the race with a chisel ...
..
.....
..
She popped off like she was never stuck...
Now just need to clean up the shafts ..
Fit new slave cyl and shoes
Put the drums with new bearings back... That's tomorrows job
Along with using the new torque wrench I've had to buy to torque the flywheel back on..

Re: Camo BAJA in the Making
The front slave cyl and shoes went in ok..
Rear drums were “stuck ... To the splines with some sort of goo?
Then the new slave cyl are wider .. Now I need to modify the shoes a tad then all four corners are ..
New tyres .. Rim .. Shoes .. Slave cyl..
Will pick new master cyl up in the week..
On the engine front ..
Replaced all studs ..
Then torqued fly wheel on ..
Unfortunately I then hit the "kak" when I started removing the plugs from
The heads ..man this cars previous owners were morons ..no copper slip
Means I now have 2 plug holes without thread....
Anyone know where I can get short reach plug thread inserts ..
I will not use helicoils ...
So anyone in Jhb do these inserts .. ??

Try Midas and BMG (old Bearing Man) as they both have systems, see which you like......

Re: Camo BAJA in the Making
Ok ..
Got plug inserts from a fastner specialist with a tap ...
Got new master cyl ..
Now the brakes should be 100%...
Just need to instal new master cyl.. But I think it will need a coat of paint
Being a Baja its going to get some wet weather n mud ...
I hope the surprises are now over ...
What else could the human torque wrench have overtightened ?
Stripped tjreads
I've never seen so many .....

Re: Camo BAJA in the Making
Didnt do much over the weekend -- was away
i have finished with motor, every part with a thread is new - Spark plugs have metal inserts ...
Done new Master cyl and all 4 slaves - redone front bearings - just need to fit rear shoes..
Last bit to add is the new Billet drain plug and cover -- once engine is in - i will flush and drain engine..
Ive added new head lights , billet bits inside, and started working on the cracks on the body - and began a mock up of the Camo..
Added a skid plate and driving lights --
