The Life of Lilly

Post by Warwick-Lowlight »

Just a little story of a little car

My life started many moons ago
My previous dads did not look after me very well

My current dad found me abandonned in a shed

Image

Took me home and fixed me up

My first real outing was back to where my previous dad had won me at an auction

All dressed up brimming with balloons - and all the other beautiful cars there out for the day

Image

My next outing is going to a dance today
Dad had me in the shed early for a good ol clean
Cant wait - have not been to a dance for many years

Have heard that dad is planning to dress me up as a Rhino for the schools fund raiser to save the poor beasts - this should be fun :hangloose:

This was written to the Father and Daughter that have shown intent on having a fun filled adventure with this little car called Lilly

A little fun story about this little car called Lilly

If you have watched Herbie or ever owned one of these little beauties you wil know that they really do have a personalletity all of their own

Well it started with the day that you came to see her for the first time
After replacing the glove box she decided that she would not let anyone look inside her bonnet so she closed up completely
I really had to speak very nicely and explain that she should open up as her new owner was really going to look after her

After giving her a washdown before your visit the driver side door just decided not to work properly

Give her a nice new engine and she brainwashes me
Checked all the electrics as she was backfiring properly
Yesterday got back to having a look and see that I had put the plug leads on the wrong way for # 3 and #4 hence the backfiring
Thru this process she taught me a good lesson in firing order and valve configeration ,points condensors and distributers

After getting her purring like a kitten it was time for our first drive in a while
All good to a mates place to help him move a couch
Parked and pulled up the handbrake and booooing the spring and knob just jump out

She is really trying to tell me something

During the drive home we again have our little talk - don't worry Lilly these are really nice people and you will have a great adventure with Megan

This morning I drive the car up to get some apples for a friend of mine
Park the car and pick the apples
As I get in and am having a little morning moment the little Lilly again gives me a reminder of how special she is
Look at the odometer and its perfectly aligned in 1-2-3-4
Just to remind me about the lesson that she had given me in getting her firing beautifully

Yes you can have fancy and reliable
But Character is something so really special that only comes with time

Have a great day - hope this put a smile on your dials

And yes I am very attached to all my Aircooled wonders

I just about shed a tear when I read this. Now I can face the day with a smile on my dial. It just goes to show that these machines that we love and care for really do have a soul.

Megan is one very lucky lady to be getting such a special car.

This is going on the wall in the garage.

I can't wait for the day when I get to take the buggy out on her first drive and start getting to know her...

Take her for a drive and break down on the N2 because you wired the alternator up incorrectly and the volt drop when the lights are switched on causes all things to come to a stop

Now there is some Character building from my point of view

Wow what a story! A car without character is just a tin can, it's character that makes us love them so much! Also love Lilly's color scheme!
