Pair of perfect Pumas

Post by fig »

These two custom Pumas with Ferrari-style badges showed up at last year's Vaal Ou Wiele Wheels on the Vaal event. Pretty cool I thought. :hangloose:

unusual, that's for sure. my first impression is that it looks good..... lots of hard work to blend all those bits together.

Ok, I like it. :) However I wouldn't nescasarily do that to MY Puma....if I had one :(

Yes, a pair. Look carefully at the pics, those are two different cars, with different wheels and different front bodywork. They drove in together and they both have the Ferrari badges and share some body mods, so I guess they were built by the same person.

LOL! Don't hold back Armand. Feel free to share your thoughts! I like what they've done with the bodywork, but I know nothing else about those cars or what other changes have been wrought on them.

My mistake I thought it was the same car.
Currently there are fewer and fewer pumas seems each wannabee wants to make the car look like a whatever.
Strangely each one gets painted red and each one recieves some sort of truck light  BTW most cars ex factory were white
with red orange bright green and any number of metallics.
The Puma in my opinion was a true coachbuilt car and Puma did buy brand new beetles in order to build the car.
There were only about 275 built and its becoming really rare to find one in original condition.

OK, I see where you're coming from. The purist in me agrees with you. If I had a Puma myself I'd go for an authentic restoration. But I do think these two cars look really good despite being hacked. It's not often that hackers manage to preserve the proportions and unity of design when mixing new parts with an old car. If someone has to hack a classic like this, then this is the way to do it, IMO. Of course, I know nothing about these cars except what I saw in a cursory inspection.

Allot of hard work went into vandalizing these two classics! :(
Must say they do look nice for what they are.
Origional would be better though! 8)
