Found this 'Trouble-shooter's pocket book' at a flea market this weekend - a 41-page summary of all the things that can go wrong on your ACVW

The closer I try to get to that somewhat illusive 60's beetle, the farther I end up. Going to see someone next weekend in PE with a couple of Aircooleds in his backyard that has to go. Will let you guys know if it is a score or not,

(The 2 i'm going for is a 67 Fastback and a 60 Ghia)

If it looks promising I will put up his details on here with a full list of what all he has available. (Couple Type4's, another fasty, bay window autovilla and too much spares/accesories to mention apparently) lets hold thumbs!!

When you get here, next weekend, remind me to take you to the beetle guy here, he will be able to help.

If he cannot find a beetle in the EC, no one can.

Bernardi Auctioneers in Hatfield had one of their five auctions this mast Monday. I'd seen these three superb models, amongst many others, available to bid on. They are all mint, in their boxes with their box sleeves, have the keys as well as instruction leaflet. The Merc still has a square of film that you insert between the models' roof and the inside of the box to stop it scratching. The panel (LOVE the panel for obvious reasons  ) has it's key still sealed in the envelope. I got this very cool retro stand with them too. Incidentally, I've partaken in many of Bernardi's auctions. You can go through to view the weekend before and then bid via the phone on the Monday of the auction. I also managed to secure Zeelie and Tugwell oil paintings too as an investment (they were ALOT more expensive than the cars  ). Have a look at their past auctions; some really cool vintage valve radios have also been available a few times: http://www.bernardi.co.za (I found that tin covered in busses at a shop at the waterfront not too long ago - just wanted to share)

Hi Fig,

I do know that they are new. I'd read a bit online about Schuco and how it closed down in West Germany in the early '60's and the factory was reopened some years later. A factory was then opened in Hungary and finally in America if I remember correctly. I think the last models produced were in 2000. Either way, I thing they are really cool and they fit in nicely in my display cupboard :hangloose:
