Re: The re-Birth of Toy 1 (o\_!_/o)

So recently havent had any time to get to do anything on the car due to the fact that ive been busy sorting out other things, and have been trying to find a way to make money for the car, and before I do anything I have to focus on school.

So 4 weeks ago sat with family and while talking obout my marks for Civil Technology, we started talking bout the fact that in the area we stay in we have verry few brick yards and most of Tzaneens Brick are brought in from Mpumalanga. One thing led to another and 4 days later we ordered a brick machine. (I know this has nothing to do with building a car but will eventually get round to my point. ) So once having ordered and paid for the machine we started to look at how we would do everything, from moving material to how we would mix cement. After looking at the price of a Pan mixer, just over R60 000 I made a joke and said you would probably be able to build a machine for 3 times less, wich led to me making one or two drawings and phoning a few people and after a week of qoutes and talking to different companies it turned out to be 3 times cheaper.

So after convincing family they should rather give me the money and let me build one, rather than buy one. I started building a pan mixer. 2 weeks later i had the motor with all its couplings lined up, laser cut motor mounts and a massive "pot" looking thing, and a heap of 6m lenghts of channel, angle iron, solid bar and various types of other metal.

Inbetween all this I ended up getting sick, and from all the welding at night had started to get arc eye (before anyone says anything, i used a welding helmet and had been warned that no-one in my family was going to pee in my eye, yet somehow I got arc eye  )

So one one of my 4 days I got off school, I took a trip out to the mine as sitting at home and been banned from welding wasnt verry fun! So while sitting at the mine going thru pictures of what I had done and what still had to be done I had someone who was buying stone, ask me if I build pan mixers? So one meeting led to another and not long afterwards I had recived my first order to build a machine for this guy.

So have been building two machines, one fore a family bussiness and another for a contractor who just cant stop finding people that want to buy pan mixers from me. Have had no-time to even look at Toy 1, Untill tonight when I at last finnished off welding up a conveyor and had metal left over.

Now I sit with a big problem when it comes to metal in my family, we decide to build on thing from a peice of metal and verry soon it becomes something else.
Like my body rotisserie. Last I saw of it, they had been cleaned up and now hold up the lasers that activate the guiding system for our weight bridge at the mine. Then you have the body roller, it hadnt even been started when the metal I had bought became a tool trolley. :D

So at last tonight i used the sqaure tubing i had left over and after a few rought drawings, cuts and welds....I had the shape of my body roller :hangloose: wich is now hidden inside the car and out of anyones sight.

When I go and make my next order of steel I will add the wheels and last 1m section of steel that is needed to allow it to extend out and in.

So after who knows how many months I have finally found a way that i can make $$$ to put towards Toy 1 :D
