1970 VW Beetle Project

Post by swiggs »

Hi Guys,

Just a quick mention of my 1970 Beetle project that I'm currently undertaking. Bought my beetle in 2009 as a daily driver but always wanted to do a custom Beetle so in September 2010 i took her off the road and started a fully custom restoration. The first pic is what it looked like when I first got it and the second is what it looks like currently after bodywork and spray.
Many thanks to Jaco for all the bodywork.

Now comes the part I was most looking forward to and that is putting it back together with all new and custom once-off parts.
Will do an update regularly as it comes along.
Thanks also to the Faziel and Mudrick from the Phenomenal Bugz Club for the contacts that will be needed to complete my project.

Later........

Hi,

I 'm planning a complete Cal look. Having the one piece windows made and also a once off dash that should look as if it belongs in a aircraft with plenty of gauges and toggle switches.

Two bucket seats are also going in and its only being built as a two seater with a roll cage and fire extinguisher in the rear.
Sound will be kept to a minimum and old school mirrors should finish off the exterior.

The motor is an unrated 1700cc twin port with a 32/36 weber on a custom manifold and K&N filter.
Noise boys in parow sorted me out with a new branch manifold and cowley box with the taipiece facing rearwards.

Will keep this post updated as my project progresses.

Later......

It's not how fast you get there it's how you look when you arrive.

On the first picture, what kind of rim sits in the front? At first it looked like a Aplilance Pacer but the details on it does'nt really match the design of a Aplilance Pacer... any idéa?
