Re: want to build tdi engine in baywindow
Good day
I am very interested in going the Diesel route on my Bay, but have a few questions
1. Where about do you go with the radiator? I do not like it behind the spare wheel at the front , or just in front as mine was when it had the previous engine in..
2 Will I be able to fit the 3000D Toyota engine that I have at my disposal.
3 Can I run it on my Standard gearbox, if I am able to find an adaptor plate?
Any help comment will be appreciated, I know, I would like to keep it original, but the previous owner already made a HUGE radiator housing at the front so all is already lost. I can just as way go the practical route now

In answer to your first question I think that this is one of the best compromises that I have seen. It disguises the radiator rather neatly:
You really could put the radiator almost anywhere, as long as it is in the air-flow, underneath the belly is neat but vulnerable to damage. If I ever get round to doing my own Tdi conversion I shall possibly place the rad on the roof at the rear, ugly but practical.

Size does matter

Hi
i had a bay doka with a VW 1.9 td in it, went well, very easy to do. the raditor was already mounted, cut into the nose.
I would personally fit a 2.0i Golf pertol motor, at least they rev and with 85kw on tap it will fly.
