Well....hold on tight!

I saw this Split Camper for the first time in the western side of Pretoria a few years ago. It belonged to a... well....let's just say 'economically disadvantaged' old man who actually lived in it. I gave him a few bucks for petrol, and he allowed me to take pics of it (which I can't find at the moment  ). Rumour at the time was that there were a few exporters desperately trying to get their paws on it.

Got these pics from Andries Groenewald of Landbouweekblad (not sure what his Forum username is) last week - the bus has been sold to a local buyer, who plans to restore it, which is GOOD news! :hangloose:

Not sure of its origins, but we believe it might be one of the early Jurgens Autovilla prototypes...

those are cool pic's...poor thing must be a slug at the coast with a touch of headwind !!
maybe that's why the camper section is so big...you get to sleep along the road often when it's windy ! :) :)

Was tracking this bus and saw this kombi in the flesh. Was about a week to late to buy it. Somebody else in pta bought it and as Pine said, is planning to restore it. Good luck. :)

Spotted this camper mod at the Pomona Swap Meet a few weeks ago. It was really nice variation - I was loving the widened sprintstar's on the rear and the windscreen sun visor!

Would love to do a good US road trip in this - think it would attract a lot of attention in the RV Parks !

Hung around it for a while and didnt spot the owner so couldn't chat to him. I assume with the quality of the VW part of the bus it would be an aircooled - but what size/aspiration we can only guess
