Re: The re-Birth of Toy 1 (o\_!_/o)
Ok so have been busy with Dsans beam and havent had much time to look at the bug
but at last while The parts of the beam are in jhb i had some time to get back to the bug so...
Last week had someone here while the bug was comming out the truck, oviously it has started to bubble under the paint after standing outside for so long
well this guy said to me "why dont you just sand it down past the paint and give it a cote of primer?" so after talking a bit more to him he said well u have a compressor i have a spray gun u get some primer and sand paper sand it down and let me know and we can do it in sections. Well primer is on its way and the black paint taken off to where the old primer sat (not like im going to be painting it its just going into primer to stop any more rust.)
So at last a picture

Tommorow i will pull it out again once it stops raining and take the last bit of paint off on the pannel.

Re: The re-Birth of Toy 1 (o\_!_/o)
So she got pulled out today sanded down the last bit, found some rust under body filler
sanded it away compleatly and went to go see what i could get at the bodyshop. So after talking to the guy there he said "no dont waste your $$$. go get a few cans of primer and use that, as long as you dont intend on spraying 2K over it! You are sorted
" Hey its only to stop the rust so went and got a can of primer and tried it and it has worked well so far
.
will put a pic up tonite when i can get on laptop

Re: The re-Birth of Toy 1 (o\_!_/o)
You gonna take the primer off again when the time comes or are you thinking of using something other than 2k?
I used 2k on a baja and it came out beeyouteefull...
Wonder why you can't use that primer with 2k seeing as you'd probably be covering the primer with a filler coat etc anyway?

Re: The re-Birth of Toy 1 (o\_!_/o)
yes it will have to come off at a later stage, as i dont think that your can primers are compatible with 2k normally they have certain primers they work best with.

Re: The re-Birth of Toy 1 (o\_!_/o)
Wow havent been able to update in a long time..
Lets see more or less a run down of whats happend between then and now
*Sent the rostyles in to get detailed, only to have the guy walk off with the money I had given him. He was nice enought to drop them off at my parents house.
"moved her into her garage, split the body and pan then 3 weeks later had to move her back out side so a drill rig could have new bearings put on tracks...and slowly my stuff was moved out and drilling and blasting company moved in.
*Had the king and link pins sent in to get reemed and pressed together.
"Cut the tortion leafs for the 6" beam, and when i find time inbetween school work and assignments they are slowly been redimpled to hold the tortion arms.
*Packed everything up and getting ready to move again.
Will hopefully have a few weeks to mess around and move forward once im done with exams...maybe even get her back on wheels.
