Would all the moaners please show us their chops.
A beetle is probably the most difficult car in the world to chop and if one can complete it into a driving operational vehicle he or she deserves a medal. Ask around to find a person who has done a chop in south africa: Only Bugger that I know of.

Who cares how it's done in California?

I have not, nor will I attempt to chop a beetles roof, ever. If I ever did, it would never ever be as dog ass ugly as what this guy did... its almost as if he had a great plan to do so, then mid steam discovered this was way more work than he thought and screwed it up with that dog leg in the door post.... Leaving half the roof gutter out also adds to the lets just get this damn thing finished theme...
I still maintain... that is damn ugly!

This chop was done in the early 80`s by Uncle Chris Lappies
There has been a few cars that has poped up on the forum and got the same mixed reaction of some like and some dont like
When this chop was done it was done specific in the way it is as to be different
Chris has built about 6 chopped bugs by this ones birth and the guy he did it for wanted it different and it is actually more work doing it the "Wrong" way as to straightening the pillars
My self do not like this way it was chopped but as Sarel has also saw it looks easier as it is to do a chop
Chris Lappies is a legend he has built, modified and transformed more Bugs from the dead And I mean bugs was R20 for 3 Beetles at one stage in the 80`s and he had kazillian Split bugs , Ovals and other that he bought and saved and he was also a master Metal fabricator that could turn a piece of shit in to a show winner
