Van den Brink's scrapyard

Post by fig »

Van den Brink Motors, 011 708 1297, speak to Derk, John or Maggie.

The inevitable has come to pass: Van den Brink has started clearing his scrapyard. Most people know he has about five acres of ACVW scrapyard near Kya Sands. Some years ago all the land around him was bought up by a property developer who wants to build a mall; VDB has been holding out for max moola, but it's only been a matter of time before he sells out and his yeard is consigned to history.

I heard this week that he has started clearing the scrapyard and has already cut up and removed a LOT of stuff for scrap metal. His yard has been pretty well picked over so not a lot of good stuff left, but there is lots of good sheet metal still there, as well as hidden treasures for the dedicated hunter.

So this is our last chance! If you can, get your ass over to VDB asap and spend some time hunting in his yard! :hangloose:

Get prepared for them to clean out your wallet as well, they are not shy in doing so.

VDB is getting scrap metal value for this stuff; that should give everyone some negotiating room on price!

Was out there yesterday - old man VD Brink was there and didnt say anything about moving. Bought a used rear drum for RATEX - charged me R300 - was I ripped off??
(NB reason for rear drum?? - was driving along Nicol Highway, - turned right and suddenly NO DRIVE - nothing.. Didnt matter which gear I was in - no drive. First thought it was the clutch, but when got RATTY towed home by unhappy wife and jacked up the back - found the left drive shaft was rotating but the wheel wasnt - after removing the drum found absolutely no splines in the drum - looked like it had been machined smooth!!!
Moral of the story - Tighten your nuts!!!
Ex VD Brink drum now on and everything back to normal..
