Okay So I have swapped my go kart for the beetle that was for sale on gumtree and loaded her up and brought her down to Grahamstown surprisingly enough nothing broke off on the way back and it was raining and the wind was blowing extremely hard. So I started doing some investigating and found rust almost every where. My plan was just to get her to Grahamstown and see how it goes from there and I ended Up deciding to do A full resto on her so that means body off and to the scrap yard and New one is going to have to go on so I am looking for a 1963 or 1964 body, mud guards,doors and a side mirror every thing els is there. I am not going to start working on her till Dec so I am starting to do my planning. I am thinking of doing every thing original except the motor. (I fiddled for a bit and got the motor to turn over and got a spark and the fuel pump works)
Okay so I really need body parts, front drivers seat(got eaten by a dog ) and a side mirror every thing els is there

On the week end I tried to get her to start for 30min and as I was turning her over oil started to drip very fast on no. 1 and 2 cyl. (from one of the push rod tubes so I am going to have to fix that. Then I have been Quoted R850 to bring a floor pan down from Cape town is that a bad price?

Ya I am really going to have lots of fun on this one but there is just some thing that is making me really want to start working on it I will make my final decisoin when I take the body off the pan (if I can get all the old nuts off)
maybe because it can be saved ''with hard work ofcourse''and when its finished and u stand back and look at it ,u know, u did it.then all that hard work will be worth it,,good luck on ur build.
I like a challenge but this is going to be very interesting I still cant decide if I should go custom and put my performance motor that I'm going to build in this or my 75. The thing is every thing is there but just needs to get one hell of a lot of TLC. I don't want it to be all bling bling but I still want it to function like a more modern car (disc brakes on the front, bigger motor, nice sound system ect.) I am thinking of painting it a grey colour any advice?
I did some more scratching through the rust and took of the old roof lining. You wont believe it but as I gave the lining a pull the back window poped out the inside rim that goes around the roof had rusted right off Lol So please if any one hears about a 1963/1964 body in the Eastern Cape LET ME KNOW
I want to make sure that its a 1964 how do I check?

Have a look at the beginning of the Bobbie thread....loads of people gave advice and posted pictures to drive ideas.....

Take the chassis number and look up on TheSamba website.....
