"Smelly Pete" refurb

Post by splitfan »

Hey guys
No luck on selling the smelly one..... :? and its breaking my hart just seeing the bus standing there ...so ive decided on a little refurb.
Im fixing all the wiring issues ,she has now stoped charging the battery as well so that will be adressed, the motor and gearbox is still sweet so just cleaning her up and servicing the carb.
I have build a 4inch narrowed beam and have already sorted out the brakes front and rear, have a set of 15" BRM's and a rat roofrack i will also be fitting a set of "local" Safaris and dropping her as low as the reduction boxes allow ! As far as the interior and paint that will stay as is.(had a look with my tape measure and she will take my Kx,kitt and fuel with ease)
Since this is not a resto im hoping to have her ready for Ferdi's...
My biggest fear is that my wife sells my cars for what i told her they cost !!

I am glad you are doing this. I'm not surprised locals didn't go for it, them also being the moaning old farts who get all annoyed when someone overseas has the balls to buy a bus and throw some money at it.

respect to you squire, if i hadn't got my SC I would have jumped at the chance of owning pete. (unless you wanna swap? haha)

Hey Jacques,

How about slapping some serious rubber and brakes on Smelly Pete with a monster T1 engine to make a SLEEPER RAT!?! a 16 second on the 1/4 mile rat?!?

Straight axle conversion with a good ratio set up to ease the suspension drop?

Damn,
One day when I'm done with all my current projects.......

John that would be the ultimate i agree but since you can only drive one car at a time and i still have engine work on "splitscream" and my 58" i doubt if thats ever gonna happen :( but still playing the lotto ....so who knows
