Split Window Bus

Post by Ross »

New to this and the forum. Have a 1964 (what it says on the reg papers anuways) split windscreen 6 window bus and have many questions - so here goes: -
- Is the front and rear suspension similar to anything else?
- Is there any site etc that can give an exact year etc from the serial number (I have the original plate from the interior)?
- I have been corresponding with Bustoration.com and will be importing the replacements I need in the next two weeks but would appreciate hearing from anyone else if they have used these guys before?
- The suspension trailing arms have been cut and new plates welded in by a blind guy and his dog, in an attempt to lower it so my main thrust over the next two to three weeks will be the suspension and I would appreciate hearing from anyone who may be able to steer me away from potential pitfalls etc. The bus is in a bare metal (with underside sandblasted) state at this stage so help is needed in heaps. :zhelp: :bn:

Cheers

- yah they are ok, what are you ordering from them? if it's metal, Gerson's or Autocraft are the best
- are you going back to stock or lowered?

Thanks mate - am ordering all body panels from them - their prices seem to be keen.
I want to go with air ride suspension so would prefer to go back to stock but if I cant find suitable replacement parts I may have to buy suitable kit to lower agaion and do it properly.
Will check out may plate against your decipher tool and revert - the plate is at work so will check in the AM.

Must definatley upload pics - will do so soon.

VIN 1225571 was built in January 1964, right in the middle of the 64 model year.

Being assembled in SA, your bus won't have a M-code plate to decipher.

Where are you Ross?
