Those detailed rims seem to be loved by all...Trust me its not cheap getting them done like that...my rims went off about 2 weeks ago, I was lucky enuf to have a family freind who said he would do my set and am hoping to collect them when I go down to jhb for the holiday, but they came with a price tag ranging between r900 - r1200 a rim.

:( Eina why so much? Do you have wides and narrows? Or are you having them made wide?

I have 4 Wide Rims. Sandblasting about R50 each, Powder Coating (black) is R200 each. And getting the Lip and spokes Polished and Cleared is R150 each.

Mine work out at about R400 per Rim. Not to bad i think.

O ja and then i still have to find center caps.

I saw a pic of a Beetle with 16" steelies of a Passat. I am thinking of going that route instead of the detailed Rostyles.

Looks Just as good i think.

Are you talking about that Black Bug with the Silver steelies?

I'm going that route with 16" steelies from a Jetta :D

The downside is that 16" tyres are expensive.

But they look wicked when detailed in a different metallic colour

Eventually, I'm going to have mine widened like on the Golf below

From what I could understand they get powdercoated, then they get wrapped up and the parts where the chrome finnish has to show, gets burned away once that is done it gets soldered using some funny stuff to clear up any small scratches so you have a perfect smooth area to buff to a nice and shiney mirror finnish then they get cleared and I get to pick them up.

Cool, i never knew that is was so much work, to get the rims detailed like that.

Maybe i need to get someone else to do my Rims.! The guy that quoted me on mine,is maybe taking shortcuts. I want it done properly.

Strange, coz Highteck Mag repairs did my Bike's and i am 99.9% sure it was cleared after the Lip was polished or some other Coating was put over.

Maybe itS got a wax coating or something, as paint needs a scuffed surface to stick to.
