The point is though that this kind of work is not beyond ANYBODY who is prepared to devote some time and patience to learning how to shape metal, and (I think I've done at least reasonably well with this part) who can take the time to develop an eye for flow and proportion. Believe me when I say that there is a LOT that could have been done better.

Was the squaring of the bonnet and declid corners just part of your redesign or was there some other motive?
I noticed this and thought that it is cool to ressurect a feature only found on pre 38 vw beetles. the early prototypes also had square edges on the hood and decklid. the door hinges were also really rod like. For a whole discussion on the square corners please see the 38 thread on the samba. this is one of those threads that must be read.
