I have no idea where it is as well. Here's the thread on the UK skate site that I hang out. It has the whole write up on the ramp from day one.

The reason why.... yesterday I saw on Sky's Extreme Sports channel "United by faith" and wondered how you are doin? I saw this guy just messing around a bit and came do these stairs(with concrete 'side walls', where he deliberately did a 'butt slide'(instead of a grind of some kind). It looked realy funny/cool. The most amazing part though, he didnt 'loose' his board on the way do AND rode off! :hangloose:

*hides head in shame*

Yes it's been a while since I've done anything on the speedy, but hopefully that'll all change soon. I've organised an A-Frame so that the speedy can be hooked and then it'll be off to Armand for some work. Luckily I have in-laws coming to and from Klerksdorp at least once a week, so they can take it through no problem.

Now that I've finished the ramp, I can push all of my time and money into the speedster. I ended up extending the ramp another 1.5meter and this is now really pushing my luck with my wife.

In the cars absence, I'm having a friend bend me some 10mm round bar for a new project of mine. Prepped and bent including materials, I'm paying R200-00, all I have to do is to weld and chrome it. I'm planning on adding a luggage rack to the car, but there is no ways that I'm going to pay R4000-00 plus shipping for a repo from the US that has crappy welds on it.

So stay tuned, I should be getting all the pre-bent stuff this weekend and I'll be able to show you (hopefully) how easy it is to make one.

Well here's what I have so far.

The guy that i spoke to came back with a bill pf about R600 to do the bending. SO I said screw it and tried it myself. This took all of about 30 minutes to do. Bench vice and pulling power and welded the lot together. Total cost...........R40-00

The next stage is to make another one, but this time in 16mm rod as the 10mm looks too thin. The first attempt was to just see if it could be done, this time I'll spend a bit more time on it and get it 100%.

I'm pretty happy so far.

Well an update of sorts.....................It went to the engine builder to have a motor fitted.
DSC06840.JPG
She's getting a 2.0 litre fitted so that I can trouble shoot a few things as well as sort out suspension, wiring, battery relocation and a few other final fibreglass stuff as well as loads of deadening, at least 50kg's worth, there are way too many rattles on this car.

Ps, Armand told me 4 days after I dropped off the car that it drives nice............lol.

He doens't seem to mess around. Think we should tell the people what's going in Armand?

Let's all keep that on the downlow until Armand makes it public. I don't want to take away anything from that he's doing.

No worries.

I had a look at one at Dirk Muntigns shop last week and making a beetle rack is very do-able. I saw one there that was made from 10mm round bar.

Can't help you with the dimensions on one though.

I don't think that Dirk has the time to make one. It's pretty labour intensive. The one that he had there was one that he bought from someone that made it.

In all honesty, 6m of 10mm round bar is a little over R30. I'd give it a whirl yourself at making one. I've made a luggage rack with 16mm round bar, 10mm round bar in the middle and flat bar mountings. The whole thing cost me under R150-00 in materials. It's time that is going to nail you.

I'd google search and check out the samba and give it a try yourself. Exhaust shops can also do a load of heating welding for you for a little fee. Way cheaper than having someone custom make you one. I wouldn't charge less than R1000 for a rough finished one and I'd need a month to do it.

Good luck.

been at armand to get the temp motor fitted, he wants the motor ran in for a while, while he does some work on mine and I want a motor so that I can get the piddly stuff sorted.

We both win, well more me than him. Basically 2.0 with a cam. this thing pulls like a steamtrain. The extra weight has also brought the back down.

stay tuned, things are going to start happening now.
