Meet Doodle

Post by Klaus »

Introducing Doodle to the forum family.....

Just picked her up. The story goes that she was born in 1969 (Gonna check to see if Ruby and her were at the factory at around the same time)

She did a little running around and then was sold to an Italian family in 1974. She remained with this family until today !

She was used to build the family furniture business as well as used for their personal vehicle for some years - taking in a few family holidays - the old lady this morning was telling me about a trip in her to durban many years ago with her small children, husband and her all bundled in.

Her loving owner used her regularly and loved to do pencil doodles all over her dash board, outside paint work as well as sunvisors and headliner - hence the name ! (he also liked to do sums on gates - think while he was quoting for business)

I heard that she was up for sale and I had to out bid a guy from alex who wanted it for a business (sounds familiar). She's got a few bruises but she got loads of character !

She's now safe and semi retired !

Springer, how about a snap of that roof rack on the bug? Does it perhaps need a home? I will gladly adopt it.

Check out some pics on this thread. The one thats one springer is starting to get a bit tatty and needs refurb but i have a fully refurbed one in loft in my garage waiting for when i find a nice oval. Will take some serious :drunks: and money to let either go.

If i see one up for sale again i'll nab it and let you know. ( mmm... some time ago VD Brink had one....)
