Welcome to the site Coolvw.Tell us more about yourself in the "Members, introduce yourselves.

As for the body it's called a Berry Mini-T.It was loosely based on the Ford Model-T.

I'm sure Pine an Ron will be able to help you with the history around the body.
Damn,I'm good!

Does any one know who makes the body kits in SA for the Mini-T?

It is not really possible to date a fibreglass buggy, unless it has some tag with a serial number on. To the best of my knowledge there are no companies in SA currently still building Mini-T's, but I scanned this ad below from a 1972 CAR magazine, is it the same as yours?

Although I am a fan of the old 'Manx'-style buggy, I think the Berry-T is cool as well 8)

Just remember that it is a little more complicated to build than a 'normal' buggy, as there is no space for the fuel tank in front because of the low nose, and as far as I know the pedals and/or gear shift lever needs to be moved further backward.

Hi, yes, there are a couple of different types of "mini-Ts". Berry made a few, but AFAIK, they all had the rear mud guards flip upwards at the rear end. The ones that curl downwards at the end are not Berry Mini-Ts, they are a different make, the name of which escapes me now, and I don't have time to look on the internet.

Yes, they are more complicated to build. One problem is the relocation of the pedals and gear lever, the other is the front suspension. The body is designed for a McPherson strut front suspension, not the normal torsion bar suspension, although it will work if you bend the shock posts outwards. Otherwise you'll end up with the incorrect body stance you have in the pics above.

Good luck with the build.
