bonet hinge upgrade

Post by 1972 »

take:
2x old hinges that are still good cond (NOT the ones you are using on your car at the moment)
1x set of speed lifters (dunno what the lenght is but measure your spring while bonnet is open will give you a +-measurement on how long they must be when fully extended)
Take original hinges and using a centre punch make a guide directly in the centre of the side that isnt flattened (has to be in the middle or it wont work).
drill hole using a small drill bit and slowly work our way up untill eventually the spring and device holding it together comes loose.
Now depending on size of hole that is needed for speed lifters you can either use hole that is left after drilling or weld up hole and redrill another hole that is the correct size right in front of the other hole and use that.
mount to car and volla you have a nice set of modified hinges.
these are the speed lifters that i found on the net will post more pics when im done with mine
(P.S speed lifters are gas struts)
