Hacked T3 or could it be one of the factory prototype convertibles? Either way, it looks very cool!

Not quite. VW AG had planned a Karmann-built convertible as part of the Type 3 range right from the start, but for some reason this decision was withdrawn, even though there were already many brochures printed and distributed to dealers. There were indeed a few prototypes built, but I don't know if the one in the pic was indeed one of them?
