Very nice work! Great to see another Type 3 being saved. All the best with the rest of the project!

Episode 14!
I'll jump right in:
Remember the start of this door repair ?:

This continued during the weekend, and I must say, the more work being done on this Notch, the better it gets.

Top Notch (no pun) work there
Still one or two areas around the back to fix....

looking all nice and original, everything where it should be.
And then, there was PRIMER !

Hope to have more soon

Re: Wrek Rescue - aka The Notch
This is not an episode, more like a teazer for the next episode:
Remember the rust around the fuel filler? Weeellll, the opposite side did not escape as we had thought! Was hidden behind seam sealer and cables:

So that needs to be sorted out.
Some more panels are being checked and prepped, rust spots and dents here and there (and everywhere):

The engine also got a late night clean:

and then, Bugoff sent this pic to me, the steering box came out and he tested some of the final paint colour on it:

It's going to be one bright red Notch!
I can't wait for the next episode

Re: Wrek Rescue - aka The Notch
Episode 15
Lots of time has passed, as it's the mad year end rush. Bloody work getting in the way of ACVW and all that.
BUT, work has not stood still on the Notch.
Remember this last (we hope) rust spot :

Well it is no more.
First of course, is the cut:

Then the prep:

and lastly the fix and weld (and very neatly done if I may say so!
)

If you recall the original dash on my Notch is cracked, so Bugoff took it upon himself to make a mold from fibreglass.
Step 1 (and please jump in Ferdi if I get any of the steps wrong):
Make the original dash as shiny and non-stick as you can:

then add the gelcoat:

The first weave coat:

some chop strand

and finally the 2nd weave coat with some wood reinforcement to prevent it from cracking....

If this comes out nicely, we might just have a source for replacement Type 3 dashes!
With that out of the way, and the red paint tin open, it seems that Bugoff likes the colour as much as me!
We have some red tin, metal, filters:

Some more red tin:

and a filter close-up:

Why be normal ?!
Then, the narrowed and chopped beam, HAHA, just a red beam

and a RED gearbox:

Did I mention this car will be red ?
and after ALL the incredible hard work, we are finally back to this:

soon..........
ps. Had a thought this week, and I like it more and more the longer I look at it. Proudly South-African:

What do you think?
