On the valuation front, all sorted. The Veteran Car Club of South Africa is helping me out.

I've also picked up some period parts for the bug (and van), namely:

Yellow spot and a really cool white/blue one

Vintage clock & Jaeger fuel guage

Those vintage parts are SICK! I am sure the yellow spot will look awful with your 59.
Stick it in a box, nicely wrapped, and send it up to JHB. I have a good cause in mind for it.....

But seriously, if you happen to have two hens teeth, then perhaps we should talk.

She's back!!

New seals, oil, plugs, points, leads, brakes, shoes, cylinders, cables, rubbers, bolts, fluids, oils and the lot.

All that's left is for myself and Bugger to get those windows in and for me to add some soundproofing and it's roadworthy time. Drive home was fantastic, granted the gear selector isn't 100%, I think the wife will find that annoying but it's an old car, get used to it (haha so brave on the forum, she will kick my ass in reality)

Good news. Whats wrong with the gear selector? Bugger can sort that too. Maybe you just need to move the gear lever mounting plate up or down a few mm to get it right.

Not having driven a pre 65 one before, it's like a spoon in a bowel of pudding. Selecting 1st and reverse is really close, so you end up with the usual gear scrape. I've ordered a new shifter but thought it was just down to this older box.

I'll let bugger run his fingers over her (sounds like a dodgy freestate porno involving a man and his car)

Change your shiftrod bushing too! Kak job, but well worth the effort! It took us half a day to do it on a friend's Beetle, but the change in shift quality was dramatic :)

Sounds like that's a plan.

right tidy'd up some odds and ends and fixed the rear LED brake light.

In true beetle fashion, she now won't start. I think it's a fuel delivery problem, will have a look tomorrow when I have more light to work with. Always something huh?

LED BRAKE LITES?! Thought the brada was hooking us up with some LEDs. What's the playing all about bra?

Listen cherrie (check me picking the local talk uh?)

The LED brake lights are being sorted, this is my personal 3rd brake light so the bra's in their shitty golfs down here don't try and rape my rear end

Really not happy with the interior. The guy who did it did a kak job and is since not returning any of my calls.

I need to sort that before I take images. The carpet is sub-standard and cheap. It doesn't fit properly and the wanker didn't even add any soundproofing underneath the carpet.

Anyone know of a local supplier who can supply pre-fitted carpet sets?
