Re: What did you do on your car today?
Fitted a 009 dizzy to the KC... this followed a week-long struggle after she lost power all of a sudden, not being able to get out hilly roads. Initially opened the (original) Type 3 dizzy only to find that the (most probably) original rotor had some bad wear. Unfortunately the original dizzy has a thinner shaft that modern/normal VW dizzies, so I couldn't find a replacement rotor/dizzy cap, and replaced the entire unit with a Beetle dizzy. Didn't work either, as the vacuum advance unit is in the way of the confined space, and I was not able to set the timing right. (This included an impromptu investment into a rather pricy stroboscope...What did you do on your car today?

An ACVW with a vacuum advance unit that has been removed, doesn't run well at all. Believe me. Fitted the brand new Volkspares 009 (a.k.a. non-vacuum advance dizzy) tonight, and just returned from some high speed testing on the R24/N12 - seems like the problem is solved!

(Thanks IMPI for the additional help on Saturday afternoon, getting the idling right

Re: What did you do on your car today?
Like everything in life, the definition of speed is relative. Compared to a GTi, a Type 3 is slow. Compared to a cyclist, it is high
(But you'll understand once you get the Notch running)
The N12/R24 drastically decreases in traffic after 18:30 during weekdays.
.....well at least, it felt fast

I put a new bellhousing on the bay's gearbox and helped Mr Bugger to set the crank end float on the new motor. In the process I managed to dislodge one of the brass pipes on the fuel pump, so that has to be fixed tomorrow before the motor and gearbox can go back in.

Re: What did you do on your car today?
With a 009 high speed is not the problem, its Accelerating at low rev's that the problem. Need to get the motor to spin to get the dizzy to advance.

Re: What did you do on your car today?
Today picked up the pop out windows that where sitting at Bugger's from Chris (been there a long time just needed to collect them
) So stripped them after seeing how easy it is to replace the rubbers, the internet is wonderfull
So once bank fixes my card problem will speak to rui about the rubber's it needs. The frames will either be sent for powder coating and come back in a nice white or have them sprayed white.I know that you can powdercoat alli but dunno if spraying it will work, anyone know?

Re: What did you do on your car today?
Started putting my dashboard onto the bonnet. Damn, F@#$K, SH!TE, the workmanship is K@K. How do these buggies get to be exported, I have no F@#$king clue.
Just glad I bought my buggy new and complete so many years ago and not a crap designed one of today.
Rant over.
Now to try and mould the dash and bonnet together decently.
Tom HELP!!!!!!!!.......................................................Please!!
