Got the speedo and fuel gauge working. Now I can see how fast I'm going and if I have enough fuel to keep it going at that speed.Fitted a VDO watch I got from a Beetle, but for some reason it doesn't want to work. Will check it out at a lter stage.
Image

Right hand door window mechanism is also fixed after a cannibalised a beetle mechanism for the winding bit and riveted onto the old mechanism. The bottom part that holds the glass was also badly rusted,so I made a new one from aluminium.
Image

Quater lights can also lock now after I fitted locks I took off old Beetle quater lights.
Image

I had a persisting problem with the engine in that it would start missfiring when it gets to normal operating temp.I changed the coil, checked the timing, set the points, cleaned the carb and also changed the dizzy but it persisted. Then I changed the plugs and plug wires and it was solved.

Started to clean up the engine and replacing seals because of a couple of little oil leaks. Most of this work was done with minimal cost.Mostly secondhand parts I salvaged.

Got an old pull-out Panasonic radio for free and now I have sound too. :hangloose:
Image

Fitted new headlight as the old ones was not working. The parlights still don't work, but I'll get to that this week.
Image

The numberplate was held onto the nudgebar with cable ties.Got a numberplate holder and put it where it belong.
Image

From the DC I'm stripping,I got a good glovebox box and the glovebox cover and fitted that. Now the dash looks complete.

Image

Got the interior light working and also the dash lights.Turns out the the dim and bright turn knob was dirty, and cleaned the sunvisors.
Image

What I still need to do is source a pair of tie rod ends,a new rear bumper bracket and the seats need to be recovered. The loadbed metal has to be replace at some stage to,but I was thinking of using wood.Handbrake cables will come off the DC I'm scrapping and the brakes need a little adjustment.

I enjoy this SC a little more everyday and she carries a 1 ton load with ease.

Nice work! Did you know that a s/c or d/c Bay, being workhorses, came without glovebox covers from the factory?
