Re: The Volks Rodster
OK after a long adjournment I'm getting back onto this project (to save myself some petrol money for other member's cars
) I am busy adding some decent reinforcement to help out because of the missing roof. Should have pics soon.....
On another note, anyone wanting a very quick step up in learning how to shape metal WITHOUT any expensive specialised tools, check this out:
http://www.metalshapingzone.com
youtube video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGElSHzm0q8
Buy the DVD - it is one of the best I have ever watched on the subject and you WILL NOT get better value for R500-00
(Think of all the money you could save getting a palooka like me to do the work for you)
Seriously folks, I don't want to see or hear another "I wish someone could teach me that" unless you already own this DVD, have watched it numerous times, and actually tried out the stuff he shows.
Also he ships airmail, so you get it in less than a week - BONUS!!!!

Rear end is pretty much done, doors are complete and hung. I'll finish off the sills today and then get onto the bonnet. Think I am going to need make it slightly flatter.
After that it's the windshield frame

Wow Barry
That looks amazing!
When this project is done, we need to talk about a Heb replica.
Seriously. You definately have a gift!

Excellent Barry! I agree with Karma, you definitely have a gift.
I see you are still looking for an apprentice to train. If I don't have a contract after this one finishes I'll be too happy to assist you and learn something in the process. Unfortunately I'm not 16 anymore.

Re: The Volks Rodster
Thanks guys
Chris - I'm looking forward to it too - just a little nervous about it
Theo - finished my work on the Dodge pick-up for now. Will still need to help them make up the loadbed
Karma - don't look too close at the shutlines, they're a long way from perfect. A Heb would be awesome, but if you want to see it soon you may need to come learn this stuff for yourself (I have about five more cars standing in a queue in my head, and I can only get them out through my hands at a very slow rate
)
Beetlefanatic - I have hopefully found someone (will know in the next week or so). That said my shop is big enough for three (or five
)
Farhaad - anytime.
Dutch - I had to do something to try to catch up with your progress. Can't afford to be sponsoring other guy's fuel money now can I?
Chris, lowlight, Tom - thanks guys, and thanks to everyone else for looking.
