Re: My Razor Edge
Bit of history then... I bought the car at a show in 2003. I puddled around in it for a year and stripped it in 2004. Restoration started by a guy who had been recommended to me by many, had a restoration business, so all was well...haha!
She was pretty vrot, only the skin was good actually, the rest was see-through. The front under the bumper was fibreglass.
Three years later I got the car back 50% burnt out, and budget shot to hell. Engine burnt, wiring, paint, rubbers, tyres... So she sat in my back yard for 6 months with me trying to make up my mind whether I should bother...
I did and I got a quote for the completion of the job. Accepted the quote and off she went again. Another year went by and I got her back...
That's basically it really. There's a few bits to do still as there always are, but she's been on her first show and she was well admired. Judging by the response on this forum, she was well received here too. And long awaited....

Re: My Razor Edge
I fixed the oil leak again and rejetted the idle circuit so she runs great now. Just in time to send her away to have a 2.4l turbo motor fitted...
and VR6 discs...

Re: My Razor Edge
Hi Ron,
Please share how you got the VR6 discs on? Could you please take some pictures of the modification? I'm quite keen to see how you did the caliper bracket
P.S - I have that moustache for you - PM me for arrangements.

Re: My Razor Edge
Blitz, there's a little adapter piece that you get for the conversion to the VR6 disc. Fits on the exsisting bracket, extending it. EMPI makes them, methinks...
Chris, no, I'm in Papua, coming home on the 20th...
Blitz, chances are that Gill will drive up to Jhb to pick me up and we'll spend the weekend there...
with Bugger...
I will hopefully be picking up a gearbox with 1:1 ratio RGBs on from him, and your moustache and drive back to Cpt with that. Bugger??
Of so iets, weet nog nie...

Re: My Razor Edge
Did he? He forgot all kinds of things... I'll do my best, Gill's driving up in the Golf 4 Stationwagon (Hurray for WCVWs!!) so if I can fit a gearbox, I guess I can fit a towbar in there too...
I can't wax lyrical enough about that Golf 4 Variant you know, it's fantastic...

Re: My Razor Edge
Dave Rowley sells a hub and bracket kit that enables you to use a CitiGolf front disc and caliper on the front of your Type 3
Spoke to him about it yesterday and will be buying a kit very soon.
