Did they use a VW gbox or the Alfa one?
The only substitute for cubic inches are more cubic inches.

vw box, but he did do something unusual, he kept the alfa starter,if you look behind the alternator in the first pic you can see the orange starter, quite a different arrangement with all the other parts aswell , filters exhusts , V different !!!!!
