50 000 problem free kms, thanks IMPI!!!

Post by Pine »

A little more than 3 years ago, IMPI built me a standard 1600 t/p engine for the buggy. New bearings and a new oil pump, but second hand pistons, heads and sleeves. (Its all I could afford at the time  )

I modified a Bay window speedo, opened it, and zero'ed the odometer, and the speedo and engine went into the Buggy together.

After being late for the A/C Show yesterday

the Buggy hit the 50 000 km mark today between Alberton and Vereeniging on the R59 South:

I have calibrated the speedo and odo with a GPS, and it is 99.9% accurate and I make a point to disconnect the speedo whenever the buggy is towed, so the 50 000 kms is GENUINE!

In the past 3 years, the engine has been out of the buggy 3 times

- for a new clutch
- for a new altenator
- for a new gearbox

but NEVER for any mechanical engine malfunctioning. The engine gets serviced on average every 10 000 kms (oil, plugs, strainer, valve clearances etc). I use Shell Rotax SAE40 oil.

THANKS IMPI!!!! :drunks: :drunks: :drunks:

Congratulation!!

Who said Aircooled engines are not reliable ?

I have to add that on the day of the buggy accident, the odometer went over to 53 000

Thanks once again IMPI, we'll be starting with my new engine hopefully soon?

The buggy was written off early November 2007, got hit from behind by a truck and it simply disintegrated
