Would you need to modify your standard type 1 chassis to fit this box?

cheers

Dave

You must remember that 99% Beetles in the USA Came out with IRS back suspension and not like our Beetles in South Africa with Swing Axle
So for them it is Easy to use the 091 type Bus box which have a larger Crown wheel and Pinnion which is much stronger than a Beetle one but they use Aftermarket Beetle main
Shafts and Gears to fit in the 091 box to make it stronger

I am buzy with a 091 conversion in to my Drag buggy chassis but it is expensive as I had to buy a Porsche 944 back suspension and mounting kits from the states to do this conversion

What do you have in mind doing ?

Hi,

I'm thinking of building an off-road buggy or Baja with a-arms on the front and irs on the rear. I was wondering if the spindles etc from a kombi (late model like a 2.6 or 2.3) could be used up front combined with kombi disc brakes etc. The rear I was looking at a bus box from a 2.1 microbus with the cv shafts etc. I have not done this type of work before but have modified older toyota landcruisers to short wheel bases for off-road challenges etc.

Thanks

Dave

It would be easier to use a Baywindow Bus from the 70's there you got H beam similair than Beetle with ball joints and disc brakes
Back you got the IRS and use a tail shift 2L 5 Rib bus box that is stronger than a Beetle for Off road

Hi Guys. Raising this thread from the dead.

Bugger has built me a stage 4 box instead of stage 1.

Can you give us some specs as to what went into this box Pierre?

Thanks
