Re: My 57 and 59 Beetles
Before I bought the car it had the bigger taillights like my 59 on at the back. The law forced manny people to do it in the 70's. When I bought it, I had a pair of the correct tail lights and fitted it. The front ones must also be removed, but it involves, repaint and fixing the hole that was drilled. Am not prepared for that now.
At the moment I drive it with the semaphores and sometimes a arm out of the window if I see a lunatic behind me ignorant of how old cars work. At least the semaphores are working and are quite an odity when people see it. Thanks for the compliments, Especially Snyx and Mince. Your idea's for the car is tempting.

Got the same problem with my beetle, especially when you turn left when there is a car waiting, watch the drivers reactions. thought you had a good idea for wiring the back lights as the american way got extra wires in the indicator switch. Like your cars a lot.

If my memory serves me correct, either the 1961 or 2 model year featured the brakelights flashing when you used the indicator. I stand to be corrected. If anyone know's how to do the wiring for that conversion, please share your knowlege.

i know, i only saw your comment after i placed mine.Snyx wrote:Mince..I offered to take that piece of sh1t before you did! Stay out of my sh1t!
Rudi, I would marry a 93 year old woman for that car. Not that I want it, just to save nice people like you and her from driving it. I would slam it to the ground (by taking the wheels off) and place it in the creche's sandpit for the kids to play in and on.
what i would do with it, is dechrome the whole thing, take the body off it and place it on a special tubular frame with a V8 in the middle and race the thing againt ferrari's and such!
maybe crash it a few times, just to give it character.

Got wiring diagram for USA bus will try to post it tonight. (also 60-62)
Wires incomming to indicator switch:Wire from brakepresure switch to indicator switch, wire from flasher unit and then outgoing are wires to each indicator light LF, LR, RF, RR.

Re: My 57 and 59 Beetles
The REAL price you would pay is what the current owner would sell it for! Other than that, you cant do ANYTHING..... Sorry.

Re: My 57 and 59 Beetles
You are right Zeroaxe, Usually there must be a willing seller and a willing buyer to conclude a sale. There is a lot of luck involved to lay your hands on a really good car. To hear about it FIRST, and then to be in a situation to pay a reasonable price. A lot of dynamics.
