2000L Executive

Post by dbouwer »

Here's some photos of my wife's Kombi after removing all the stickers.

Looks much better already, but we'll start prepping it for some fresh paint soon.

We are looking at Off-white/cream colour for the bottom half, and a light Bronze/Gold for the top...

That is a low light bay. I wouldn't paint my bumpers unless the chrome was particularly bad. What was the original colour? Was it white? I would keep the paint as og as possible. It makes your bus more valuable. Also think very carefully about any mods you make to ride height and so on. If I were you I would drive the bus fro a year while making up my mind exactly what I want it to look like. You may even find you like it standard with a few accessories :)

Must agree with Drusky, don't be in a rush, keep it "as is"for a while, I thought you had removed the stickers do you have any updated pics ?,White busses are super cool and super rare, yours looks so clean and original. I can't believe that the kids did'nt destroy the seats and all
This bus as it is, with a good spit and polish will attract SO much attention :hangloose:

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

Thanks everybody.

We are in no rush. We did remove the stickers, those coloured stripes are painted on unfortunately. The only reason we want to/need to paint it.
Original colour is white.

The colour is up to my wife. She loves the colour scheme on the low light example above.
We'll stick with steel wheels, might just try and get a set of 15"
If we go lower it won't be by to much.

That colour scheme is great! Those colour stripes, my ADHD children could duplicate that with a roller and some left over paint. :D

Just kidding, the two tone will look sooo much better. :hangloose:

I wonder if he could remove the painted stripes with a burnishing compound? Or water paper them off carefully and then polish smooth. WOuld be absolutely worth it to try to restore the og paint.

If you decide to paint the bumpers, put the Executive chrome set and get hold of a pair of second hand late bay bumpers.. Paint the old ones and either sell or keep the executive ones. I am sure you're going to have a lot of fun in this bus either way.

So it turns out the bus is not originally white...

We decided to take it back to original colour, but leave the top white for a nice 2tone look.

She now looks much much better...
