Hi pls
I bought a switch with a ref nº 171955701 and can´t find any info about it. It's from a golf mk1. I wanna put intermitent wipers on my bug but the wiper arm has no position for this function. This switch fits the plastic dash part perfectly but I don't know if I'll need another wiper motor for the intermitent function or the relay I must get and lastly how to connect everything up.
Some pics:
The switch has 3 positions: off, then it connects 31 and 53, the last position (spring loaded - returns to position 2 when one stps pressing) connects 53, 53a and 53c.
If you got the wiring 4 this pls / share.
I don't want to change the switches on the column to older golf mk1 or later golf !
At the mo I got wiper switch from a v old golf that is exactly like the beetle except 4 the pull back squirt funtion which has electrical connections and is currently wired to a motor in a golf washer bottle.
Any help'll be appreciated. Thnx
Thx

Ok, since nobody seems to have done this mod before I went searching and I'll show you how to.
You can use the Beetle's original wiper motor, wiper arm and just put an electric pump.

First I got some inspiration

I used relay 19 from a VW golf MK2.
I used the switch which fits lekker just like the originals next to the emergency switch This is on a 1303.
Final result:
Ok, ok, ok I know it only wipes once when it pisses on the window.
I was fairly happy but had get it to graft properly. I later found out that I hadn't connected a wire from the relay.
Once don this is the result.
Whilst working in that area I added a Kenzle watch (from a renault) to the hole it had as can you can see.

Re: Help! - golf switch into 1600S/1303/1303S
Well done.
My only concern would be whether or not the wiper motor is rated as an intermittent operation motor or as continuous only. If it is not an intermittent motor, you might burn it out from the continual stop/start operation and then you will have no speeds.
My opinion, its not worth taking the chance.

In my search for this I saw that others that have done it too didn't come back with negative evaluations.
If it kusses out, tough luck. I'll just swap the wiper motor for one from a golf, I'll just get quicker wipes as the motors have a higher rpm.
